I grew up on the Sun Ranch, a large cattle and horse ranch in the Madison Valley of southwest Montana. I grew up thinking cowboys were special. For a long time, I thought roping and rodeo was what life was all about. I’ve sold over 40 articles, to Western Horseman and other horse magazines but also to Reader’s Digest, Persimmon Hill, and Ag Banker. In 2008, I won first place in the Feature Article category from the American Horse Publications. Although I’m old enough to know better, I still ride and train horses.
